The “May-december” folks are calling this month…and yikes they might be right!
This has been a busy month with end of the school year activities, mothers day, memorial day..and graduations! Every day I wonder if this will be a sink or swim day, will I remember to complete those teacher thank you cards in between pick ups?
I am no expert on getting things done…and I certainly have many things that get dropped. However, in order to SWIM I must make choices for my own mental and physical health.
For example:
Do ALL or the laundry and let the rest of the house suffer? OR
Start ONE load and pick up toys so my mind can settle and not see the visual clutter?
All or nothing thinking is a common cognitive distortion many of us suffer from at some point. In motherhood it can be killer, if I stay in this play that I Must do this or that…Ill Sink for sure!
There were many thinks that almost got me this month, but prioritizing myself first…is the only way I can swim.
SO MY CHALLENGE TO YOU:
What makes you swim?
How do we let go of our expectations of ourselves to allow for swimming?
Something I’ll be working on as well.
Peace, let’s welcome summer!
