Mom Imposter

Mom Imposter

It has been said “giving birth to a baby is also giving birth to a mother”

To be a good mother is complex:

Is a good mother, the model you were given by your own mother?

Is a good mother, the way mother’s are portrayed on TV/social media?

Is a good mother, the perfect model of how care for a child’s needs every way?

What if we didn’t care for our own mother, and the protayals we see of a mother seems out of reach?

The mom imposter syndrome starts. What is a good enough mother?

The Answer: whatever you did today is enough, you are enough. Tomorrow is another version of yourself maybe with different tools/knowledge but that is a different day. Every night when go to sleep the reel of the day starts. Can we try to play the moments that went well, that the child/children smiled, laughed, and played.

Not the missing shoe, undone laundry and mystery crumbs in the kitchen., the moments mom yelled……

Start the reel: It’s enough. It’s what I know today, and that’s enough. The mom today is enough.

Love to the mom, I see you.
