Toddler Terrorist

Many times I have been known to say that they make toddlers cute so you don’t kill them (it’s a joke, of course). Being a mom is super tough, with the loss of independence, identity, and the stark realities of life. Having a toddler is a whole new ball game. Most recently, my youngest child went turbo on his siblings, scratching, biting, and throwing food. It takes everything in me to keep it together in these moments. .

Choices:

  1. Give in to whatever they want and buy peace for a moment
  2. Try distracting activities like singing or play a game
  3. hold your ground and brace yourself for the tantrums

Honestly,

I usually do a combo of all 3…

sometimes we have the bandwidth to hold the boundaries. Other times…..our peace is precious ✨️.

No one has the answers in these moments. Not even a former child therapist 🙄.

NOW THE REAL TRICK IS SURVIVING THE TANTRUMS….

To cope with toddler tantrums, I focus on deep breathing, create a calm environment, offer choices to empower them, and use distraction techniques to refocus their attention. Additionally, I make sure to practice self-care, reminding myself that this phase is temporary. Although it’s really hard to believe that some days.
